What bokken do you recommend for contact training?
Last Updated: 2018-07-18
Regarding your question, if you intend to use the bokken for contact training, we would recommend that you use bokken made from Red or White Oak.  The denser and more solid the better, so White Oak is generally preferred for hard contact training.  Other heavier woods may not be suitable as whilst they may possess a lot of weight their grain structure is weaker than that of Oak making them prone to dents, breaks and cracks.
