Kendo gi are madefrom a choice of two materials: cotton or tetron. We recommend that you choose your material according to your intended purpose.
Colored kendo gi that are traditionally made using cotton, especially those dyed with indigo, tend to fade and shrink when washed. However, the wear gives it character and will more closely match the personality of the user, much like blue denim jeans. This is often considered the better option for examinations.
Tetron fiber kendo gi uniforms are known for having excellent breathability, and are loved by many for being quick to dry. They are also light-weight, which is ideal for vigorous practices. Additionally, chemical fiber kendo gi are much harder to wrinkle than cotton, making maintenance easy. Because of this, tetron kendo gi are good choices for beginners.
