Super Deluxe Bushu Indigo-Dyed #14.000 Cotton Aikido Hakama "Silk Touch" is not a typical Hakama available today.
It is made with only the best cotton yarn, using methods that have been passed down through Japan's long history of craftsmanship.

The fabric is not dyed after the construction, as in the norm today, rather it is crafted via the traditional multi-step process that has made Japan's indigo dye famous through out the world.
First the cotton yarn itself is soaked in the container of indigo dyed until all the dye is fully absorbed. Then the yarn is wrung and set to dry under the sun. This process of dyeing and oxidizing is repeated over and over again until the yarn takes on the proper shade of color as determined by the master craftsman, Keishi Takemura, the nationally recognized Master of Cultural Arts.

Traditionally dyed Hakama has the added benefit of conforming to your personality. The more you wear it - the more unique they will become - the more it will be come a part of you.

This rich fabric is then tailored and sewn by our experienced seamstresses, in our Kyoto Workshop. They will give it the particular features and advantages of Tozando Aikido Hakama tailoring.

Comes with a tough and flexible special rubber Koshiita insert. The Hakama has Seven lines of stitching and features the pleats that have been specifically well-ironed then stitched to maintain their shape despite of your dynamic moves and eventually create the outstanding overall appearance on your Aikido performances through the years.
(Please note that the pleats are stitched on the inside of the Hakama).

The best Hakama so far! October 13, 2017
Reviewer: Maykell Torres from Aikido Fujisan, Panama City, Panama
I was expecting a heavy hakama, and i got it.  Once i leave the hakama under a solution of water and vinegar for an entire day, washed the hakama and leave it dry on the shadow, it turned heavier . On my first use,  i made a lot of suwari  waza so please be careful, you will stain all the mats with blue, now,  with the blue -turned keikogis no problem, just wash them normally and the blue will wash away. After a few weeks  the stain will stop, but the hakama will have a beautiful indigo blue color.     Just fold it at the end of every  class to keep the pleats .    This is beautiful Tozando, thanks again!

Nothing much to add :
- excellent packaging
- delivery on time
- excellent product
I had been a little bit wary of Tozando becoming too commercial with the awful website revamping, but this has been fixed.
Tozando is still a fine provider of martial arts goods of excellent quality. Congratulations and please keep up the good work.

Good hakama September 2, 2010
Reviewer: Nino Lau from Beijing, Beijing China
That's the most expensive hakama I have ever had.
I paid for the high price because I heard of the deying process of this hakama is one of the national treasure in Japan. It's very special. The color is very nice and it has very pleasent, vegetal fragrance.
The introduction used to describe it's made with 14000 cotton, however, what I acually got is made with 11000 one. And It's really easy to fade even you just touch it at fisrt severl times. Moreover, it's little hot to wear it in summer. For the reason stated above, although it's really attractive samuri good, think twice before you leap.
