The Tatumi Ryu Bokken features the strongest Sori (curvature) among our stylized Bokken, resembling a old Tachi design suitable for attacking while riding a horse. This Bokken is made in genuine Japanese Red Oak and comes with a urethane coating. A variety of wood selections are available upon request.

What is Tatsumi Ryu?

Tatsumi Ryu
was developed and created during the Sengoku (battlefield) era by Tatsumi Sankyo.
Kenjutsu is considered as the major focus of the training, but the style is also well known for Yawara (Jiujutsu), Sojutsu (spear), Naginata (glaive), Shuriken, Kodachi(short sword), Bo, Hanbo and Tanto. The style incorporates armored grappling techniques, which nowadays only can be found in a few of the remaining Koryu schools.

5 of 5 Excellent Koryu Bokken January 19, 2020
Reviewer: Mauricio García Macías from Mexico City, Mexico
I am very impressed with the quality of this bokuto. Manufacturing is excellent in every way. One tip: This is a very unique bokuto, it is short and its curvature (sori) is very pronounced, approx. 20mm (more than what is shown in the images) and the tsuka is very wide (41mm x 31mm). Definitely a challenge to master. Regardless of that, this bokuto is a masterpiece of a true Japanese red oak (Hon Akagashi) by the master craftsmen of the Aramaki workshop. If you are interested in practicing with a weapon similar to the 16th-century Uchigatana, this bokuto is for you.

5 of 5 Thick and curvy - just my type! December 30, 2017
Reviewer: Christopher George from San Jose, California United States
I needed more sori in my bokuto studies. I have been trigger-shy over this Tatsumi bokken for years, but finally decided to order...words don't do this bokken justice - you need to work with this in-hand to truly appreciate this beautiful koryu design. The heavy weight and deep curve have built greater grip strength as well as deepened my understanding of the biomechanics and technique(s) involved with elliptical cutting. I recommend this on overall beauty alone, but especially if you're partial to deeper sori blades like me. And of course Tozando had this stocked AND at the best price I could find AND got this in my hands faster than the competition - thanks!
