I'm sorry for the inconvenience.
We've been facing the significant shipping delay of Bokken and Bo/Jo items we've never experienced before due to the delivery delay from the workshop, which was caused by business closure of one of the biggest workshops in September last year we had relied on. The existing workshop taking over all the orders also have been experiencing the heaviest demands ever that honestly, I regret to tell you that they cannot ship the orders as scheduled at this moment.
I would be grateful if you would understand we need around 13 weeks to ship out the Bokken and Bo/Jo items.
Again, I'm terribly sorry for all the trouble caused and I really appreciate your kind forgiveness regarding this issue.

What is Japanese Red Oak?

The Red Oak Wood used for Japanese Bokken, also called 'Akagashi', greatly differs from the Red Oak Wood referred to when speaking about North American Bokken.
While the North American Oak and Japanese Oak are related, the Japanese Oak tree is evergreen, due to this it does not have a conspicuous open grain like the American White and Red Oak.
The open grain structure, of the American Oak wood produces soft areas which are more prone to impact damage.
Akagashi on the other hand has a structure that is uniformly hard, has excellent dent resistance and has better impact strength than American Oaks.
Nowadays Akagashi is a quite rare and expensive even in Japan, and is mostly used for making high quality Bokken.

I'm very pleased with the workmanship that went into my bokken, it's of very high quality and fits well inside the saya, I've had no problems with it getting stuck.

fast delivery, good product. weight is well balanced, though the closure tends to get a little stuck (probably from excess paint) so in order to have a smooth slide, i have to apply talcum powder on the blade from time to time.
