This is the next generation of our classic Michi Kote.
Gudou's Naname-zashi diagonal stitching close up image
Featuring the O-ji wrist-cut and specialised himo-lacing, but refined with a naname-zashi stitching across the strike zone improving the level of protection.
Gudou's Naname-zashi O-ji style natural wrist angle
Like our tornado-stitch the naname-zashi orientates itself perpendicular to most strikes that hit the kote. This allows the futon to absorb the impact far more efficiently. The futon itself is stitched to 6mm in the naga-zashi style meaning it is nice and padded, but remains durable. Together with the diagonal orientation the Gudou provides excellent protection without having to add any thickness or excess material - this keeps the kote light and nimble. This is perfect for Kendoka who don't want to compromise on speed, but still want excellent protection and comfort.
Gudou's Kote futon close up
This protection is built on top of the excellent frame provided by the Michi Kote. The futon itself will not open up over prolonged use due to its special lacing method for the himo. Furthermore the wrist is constructed in our oblique O-ji style - comfrotable to wear from the very start and affords excellent mobility.
Gudou's appearance
The Gudou is a fantastic all-round set of Kote that is at home in any kind of keiko.
  • Orizashi Cotton Kazari - quick to dry, breathable and light
  • Naname-zashi kote futon - the stitching runs perpendicular to most strikes maximising protection
  • O-ji wrist construction - oblique wrist construction aids mobility and settles you into a comfortable kamae
  • 6mm stitch intervals - provides an excellent balance between durability and protection
  • Specialised himo lacing - ensures that the kote retains its form preventing it from opening up over time
  • 20% thicker right hand futon - extra protection where you need it the most
  • Brown synthetic leather tenouchi - soft, comfortable and durable
  • Cotton stuffed atama - the padding around the fingers provides comfort and solidity protecting your fingers from wayward strikes and collisions

Kote are as advertised.
Nicely made, kashira padding is thick and shock absorbing, the futon on the right kote is noticeably thicker and protecting. Only used twice as yet but so  far very satisfied.
