Tozando is proud to introduce it's new "Tora" Kendo Kote.
Needless to say, proper grip of the shinai is paramount in Kendo. With its special head construction, the Tora gives you instantly the perfect grip over the Shinai Tsuka.
With its 5 kazari-ito braids and new cut, Kote fist is engineered to shape your fingers positions in accordance with the proper way taught by teachers.
Your fingers will naturally roll themselves around the tsuka from little finger to index. No more "pincerlike hand", or lengthy process to break the Kote into the proper Te-no-uchi shape.
By breaking the Kote head cushioning in 6 parts, it will get you a never experienced before precision and finesse of grip down to each of your knuckles.
Being Orizashi (strong cotton weave fabric), the Kote easy to use and quick to dry. The Neo-leather palm is extremely resistant to humidity and sweat and dries faster that deerskin.
The right forearm Futon protection is also thicker, offering better protection for repeated kote-uchi practice.
Paramount for beginners helping them to get the gist of proper Te-no-uchi faster, the Tora will also please advanced practitioners and teachers for it's comfort and ease of use in regular, even intensive training.
  • 5 Kazari-ito braid on ergonomical Kote-gashira construction for a natural fit
  • 6mm machine-stitch Orizashi cotton Futon
  • Thicker Futon on right-hand Kote
  • Deep Purlicue cut
  • Brown Neo-leather palm

Very light weight kote but very protective. Very fast delivery and quick communication, thanks Stefania for your support. I am looking for a combo set includes a A1 men and a Kote so hope that I can make decision very soon.

4 of 5 Nicely designed and good enough for the money January 17, 2020
Reviewer: Hokushin from Philadelphia, PA United States
I have been using this pair of Kote for more than 15 months so far. And I would like to share some pros and cons I feel personally.

Cons -
1. After using it for 5 months, the tenouchi leather started to have holes around thumb part. And some stitches started to break.  I assume the tenouchi leather quality is not that good, ( I have another 2 pairs being used in rotations for 3 practices every week.)

2. This is really Jissengata kote. Even though they designed it with thicker futon on right side - the fist part is actually much thinner than a more regular Kote. Based on my blocking habbit - I got hit on knuckles pretty often and that is not pleasing at all. Though, his is more personal issue I would say.

1. The grip is actually VERY good thanks to the fist design, which I have not experienced from some other more regular pairs I bought - even MIJ ones. Well at the end of the day it is it's selling point.
