Bokken of Twelve Heavenly Generals: Kinnara
Older temples around Kyoto and Nara region often have the Yakushi Nyorai a.k.a. Bhaisajyaguru as the center of devotion flanked by the Twelve Heavenly Generals, who were twelve yaksha generals who had been converted through hearing the Medicine Buddha Sutra.
This new series of Bokken features each General on a selected white oak bokken habitated and made in Japan. The each General is detailedly laser-inscribed on the handle in accordance with the actual statue at the Shin Yakushi Temple in Nara. The bokken is shaped with the chevron spine and the rounded hilt end.
Each of the Twelve Heavenly Generals represents the guadien deity by the sexagenary cycle. You may choose your General by the year of birth and carry it with you.
Kinnara is the guardian deity for those born in the year of tiger and has a sacred stick in his left hand. The years of tiger are 2010, 1998, 1986, 1974, 1962, 1950, 1938, 1926.
