What is Niten Ichi Ryu?

Niten Ichi Ryu
is the school of Kenjutsu founded by legendary and probably the most famous swordsman in Japan, Miyamoto Musashi. Niten Ichi Ryu is mainly known for the two-sword kenjutsu techniques Musashi called 'Niten Ichi' which means "two heavens as one". His Nito technique, used to skillfully use two swords(long and short) simultaneously, attacking from unpredictable angles, are the proof of Musashi's genius.
Practicing Nito-ryu techniques improves one's coordination, speed and awareness.
The Bokken that Musashi made himself, with which he trained and used as a walking stick during the last years of his life, is today in the possession of the city of Usa's Shinto Shrine.

Great! May 28, 2014
Reviewer: elyu from Dasmariñas, Cavite Philippines
At first, I was about to order my Niten Ichi-ryu bokken set from another seller in Hong Kong. Glad I didn't because the material might not be that well good.

When this arrived in June 2013, I was really impressed. The Niten Ichi ryu long bokken is thinner and lighter than my kamagong bokken. It's great in doing Niten Ichi-ryu kata and you can really feel the fluidity when you swing. I usually put lemon oil in the bokken set every 3 months for maintenance. I tried to use the long Niten Ichi ryu bokken during practice  against a thicker white oak bokken of my senpai in Shinkendo and the Niten Ichi ryu long bokken didn't get any damage. Even though it's lightweight, I still get tennis elbow for having weak arms when holding both bokken in each hand.

The only downside is I saw a chip on the shoto when I got it from the Customs but still, it's great. Planning to bring the shoto to my work and use it for practice during my breaks.
