The Hokushin Itto Ryu bokken is one of the heavier bokken among our stylized bokken and it is recommended for both strengthening Suburi practice and paired hard contact Kata practice. It's available in Japanese White Oak and Red Oak and comes with urethane coating.
A variety of wood selections and finishes are available upon request.

What is Hokushin Ittoryu?

Hokushin Ittoryu created by Chiba Shusaku is considered as the pioneer which introduced the scientific approach to Kenjutsu training. It's legacy is enjoyed by modern Kendo practitioners.
Based on highly effective Itto ryu techniques and innovative step by step teaching methods the style was one of the most popular Kenjutsu schools in late Edo period. It should also be noted that some of the major historical figures who were the driving force during the restoration period studied in this school, Ryoma Sakamoto and Yamaoka Tessyu (the founder of Itto Seiden Muto Ryu), just to name a few.
This style also includes Naginata techniques in its technical repertoire.

5 of 5 Fine Bokken November 22, 2017
Reviewer: Augusto Morales from Delmar, Maryland United States
The thickness and balance allows me to get a good workout. This is the finest Bokken I have ever owned. I am interested in getting more Historical Bokken and Suburi later.
