The shinai is fully wrapped in high quality leather. Used predominantly in Kashima Shin Ryu, this shinai is perfectly made for training in which a bokuto would be too dangerous. The thick, high-quality leather ensured durability while the bamboo skeleton gives flexibility and a more forgiving flexibility.
Dating back to as early as the 16th century, Kashima Shin Ryu is a member of the Japanese Koryu Bujutsu. Although Kenjutsu plays a major role, this school also teaches jo-jutsu, bo-jutsu, batto-jutsu and more to create a fully encompassed martial system. This style is named in honor of the Kashima Shrine.
