Hijikata Toshizo is often considered an icon of the last Samurai and still adopted for a novel, a film, music and even for Manga comic. Despite of his handsome look, he was feared as a demonic executioner and the executioner's favorite weapon was a sword made by Aizu Kanesada the 11th. This Kanesada Koshirae is the perfect replica of original sword preserved at Hijikata Toshizo Museum in Saitama prefecture. Proudly made in Japan.

This version of Kunishige Koshirae particulary symbolizes Oda Nobunaga's bizzare personality by featuring the extraordinary Saya with gold-lacquered, almost fully wrapped stingray skin. This Kunishige Hamon is also known as ogre knife and actually better known as Heshikiri Hasebe. A sand-cased, extra-reinforced zinc/aluminum alloy blade provides the superb balance for the dynamic air-slashing move. Needless to say that Sakamoto Ryoma is one of the most respected Samurai in Japanese history and his dramatic life is often adopted for novel, musical, theater and film.  His favorite sword to carry with was Mutsunokami Yoshiyuki. It is said to be the Mutsunokami Yoshiyuki that he had with when he was attacked and killed at O-miya, and his Yoshiyuki blade is being preserved at the Kyoto National Museum. This Ryoma Koshirae sword is a reproduction of the Ryoma's Yoshiyuki to pay the tribute to the last Samurai hero.

Toyotomi Hideyoshi was probably the top gold lover during the war period and fond of using the gold for display everywhere, including the notorious a tea ceremony room. Uesugi Kenshin was one of the many powerful lords of the Civil War period of Japan in Echigo province. He is famed for his prowess on the battlefield, the legendary rivalry with Takeda Shingen, his military expertise, strategy and his belief in the god of war — Bishamonten. In fact, many of his followers and others believed him to be the avatar of Bishamonten, and called Kenshin god of war. This Koshirae is a faithful reproduction of sword Uesugi Kenshi was actually wearing all the time, Himetsuru Ichimonji. This Tsuba-less Ichimonji is the typical Uesugi clan's Uchigatana style.

The fitting ornaments feature luck-bringing gourds with cherry blossom on blackened Fuchi/Kashira, catfishes and gourds on Menuki, and bamboo leaves on 7 cm diameter Tsuba. A synthetic leather purple Tsuka cord is wrapped over the blackened Tsukasame and Saya is lacquered Kuroro(black gloss finish).
