This set is made by the experienced Tailors of the Tozando Nishijin
workshop, resulting in a final product that is durable,
light and comfortable, while keeping an elegant silhouette.
The Gi is made with "Tsumugi" textile (100% Polyester), which has a very traditional look befitting of a Iaido practitioner. Tsumugi textile is traditionally made by using Silk floss which is spun by hand into yarn, because the quality did not match that of true silk yarn, it was once considered inferior as it took a lot of time and work to weave the yarn into a proper garment. Nowadays it's a important traditional Japanese handicraft that is internationally recognized for it's quality.
The Tsumugi textile is light and durable, making a great choice for Iaido Gi, it also has a slightly more matte look to it compared to regular Polyester based fabrics, thanks to the unique pattern of the Tsumugi textile. It has a slightly rough texture upon touch, making it
very similar to the fabric that is used for old casual Kimono wear.
This Iaido Gi also features the chest-seaming, well-known in Japan as "Okumi",
which prevents the Gi getting disheveled and keep the shape and the
silhouette more beautifully. And it, as the result, enhances your Iai
performance
even greater.
Because the fabric is Polyester based, it also makes the
maintenance of both the Gi a breeze, as you can wash it directly in your
washing machine. As the Tsumugi fabric also dries very fast, it's
perfect for use during warm weather!
The Striped Iaido Hakama are sewn one by one by the experienced tailors at the Tozando Nishijin Workshop. Using the Silket fabric (Wool 40% / Polyester 40% / Rayon 20%) to provide a Hakama that is soft as Silk, yet durable as a Hakama made with synthetic fabrics. The fabric feels heavy and firm to touch, but is quite elastic and feels great to wear, even while doing kneeling down, our Iaido cut Hakama will follow your movements as it's supposed to. Our tailors have also added inner-stitched pleats to the Hakama to allow for easy maintenance This Iaido Hakama also features comes with inner-stitched pleats so that
you don't have to worry about the pleats of your Hakama when washing
it, as the stitching keeps the pleats in place for you. It also creates a more dignified appearance for the wearer. Please do not wash this Hakama in a washing machine as it might damage or cause unwanted shrinkage to the fabric.
Please note that this set does not come with Embroideries on the Gi by default, the embroideries are sold separately.
