Zekken / Nafuda / Tare Names are identifications aprons to be slipped on the central "flap" of a Bogu Tare.
This Tozando Kendo Zekken is unique in the sense that the text is embroidered onto the fabric, giving this Zekken a very elegant and classy appearance.
The Zekken is made with 100% indigo-dyed #10,000 Cotton Canvas and the text is beautifully embroidered onto the fabric by our skilled craftsmen in Kyoto, Japan.
It can now also be customized to be made using Indigo-dyed Sashiko Cotton Fabric, which is familiar from being used in Kendo Gi. The Sashiko Pattern gives the finished Zekken a very unique look and fits in nicely with the rest of your Kendo equipment.
You have three options for the font types in both Traditional and Modern writing styles, and and also choose the embroidery colors.
However please keep in mind that only white embroidery color is allowed for official competitions.
Any field left blank will not be embroidered.
- Text A (horizontal) is usually for the place you belong to (country, city, dojo...)
- Text B (vertical) is usually your surname in Japanese. The most popular way is Katakana (Japanese syllabary). You may prefer it in Kanji (ideograms)
- Text C (horizontal) is usually for your surname in alphabet, so that non-Japanese readers can recognize your name.
In Japan practitioners only use A and B.
Text C in alphabet is useful in international situations.
