Description Extended Information   Miike Tenta was a renown swordsmith in Chikugo prefecture in the late Heian era and is better known as Mitsuyo. The characteristics of his sword is the wider blade and the dynamic appearance. Often the image of Tenta's sword is considered talismanic and one of the Maeda's heirloom is the big Tenta's work, known as O-Tenta. Yagyu Jubei was also very fond of using Tenta sword and the name of Tenta still appears in a novel, a movie, a drama and so on. This Koshirae is a dynamic reproduction of Miike Tenta with the luxurious furnishing. The blade length is 79.5 cm(app. 2.60 Shaku) and the Tsuka length is 30.3 cm. Tsuba, made of steel iron, and Menuki features the Yagyu clan's original Nikai Kasa theme,known as Yagyugasa. The Tsuka is cotton-wrapped in Ikkanmaki style and the Yagyugasa Menuki is half-exposed. Fuchi/Kashira is the typical Handachi Koshirae style to remind the noble Heian era. Saya is lacqured with black Tataki(rough matte finish) and Inro Kizami(stripe carving) and the Saya end features the large Kuwagata type O-jiri. 2.60 Shaku only.
