Okada Izo was actually a skilled Samurai warrior but his life was corrupt by the twist of fate. Being a natural born swordmaster, he could invent the original style of sword technique in his youth and then entered Onoha Itto Ryu school taught by Takechi Hanpeita, who later became a leader of Tosa Kinnoto, a party of antiforeigner radicals. Under the leadership of Takechi Hanpeita, Izo was strongly influenced for the thought of antiforeigner and became very active in Kyoto as assassins. As the result, he was feared as one of the four most notable assassins of the late Edo Shogunate period. But after the coup of 8.18 in Bunkyu, the antiforeigner activists were expelled from Kyoto and Izo was caught in Tosa. In 1865 at the age of 32, two years before dawn of the Meiji Restoration, he was beheaded on the charge of the serial murder. Despite of his notorious activities as the terrorist, Okada Izo remains one of the most popular warriors in that era.

Fitting ornaments including a set of reinforced brass Fuchi/Kashira, iron Tsuba and a pair of brass Menuki feature one theme; a skull which represents a series of corpses by his terror as well as his desperate and tragic life. A cotton Tsuka cord is bound over white Tsukasame. Saya can be chosen among black matte finishKuroishime), black gloss finish(Kuroro) and brown matte finish(Chaishime). Cotton Sageo is also included.

A sand-cased, extra-reinforced zinc/aluminum alloy blade provides the superb balance for the dynamic air-slashing move. Hamon reproduces Hizen Tadahiro's characteristic, Choji Gunoe. Each parts are uncompromisingly hand-assembled by the Japanese sword craftsman, who is expert in making the genuine Japanese sword, Shinken.

The blade is available up to 2.45 shaku. Weight without Saya is approximately 800 gram(for 2.45 shaku). Proudly made in Japan.
