Shindo Yoshin Ryu's bokken reflects the characteristics of an older styled Daito, with a deeper Sori and longer than normal Tsuka. The kenjutsu kata of Shindo Yoshin Ryu are very subtle, employing tactics suited to the weapon's unique dimensions and balance.
Takamura Yukiyoshi, the late headmaster of the Takamura Style Shindo Yoshin Ryu personally made the weapon used as the prototype for Tozando's Shindo Yoshin Ryu bokken.

What is Shindo Yoshin Ryu?

Shindo Yoshin Ryu is a sogo bujutsu founded by a Kuroda Clan retainer, named Matsuoka Katsunosuke.
Matsuoka mastered several styles of Jujutsu and Kenjutsu during his life and consolidated many concepts from these various schools into his own style which developed during the late Edo Period.
The Shindo Yoshin Ryu mainline survives under the leadership of Dr Fujiwara Ryozo in Tokyo while the Takamura ryuha survives in the USA under the leadership of Tobin E Threadgill, the late Takamura Yukiyoshi's senior exponent.
