This version of Tozando Aikido Hakama is made of very durable #9000 cotton canvas for your heavy duty practice. The selected cotton yarn is tightly woven for the minimum shrinkage. The thick fabric of the Hakama produces a feeling of weight and stability, and since we have used modern methods for dying this fabric, this also results in less bleeding and the fabric will not behave in the same way as the traditionally indigo-dyed fabric, so that you can enjoy using a cotton Hakama while not having to worry about damaging the Dojo mat or your other garments.
With Ukemi in mind, the Koshiita insert is made of a tough and flexible rubber composite that has been engineered to maintain its shape and prevent injury at the same time. The Obi is reinforced by seven lines of stitching which work to prevent tearing and/or kinking. With a more durable Obi, you can also fasten your Hakama more securely.
We have also tailored the front of our Hakama to be slightly shorter than the back and it allows for smooth, worry-free movement and features the pleats that have been specifically well-ironed then stitched to maintain their shape despite of your dynamic moves and eventually create the outstanding overall appearance on your Aikido performances through the years.
(Please note that the pleats are on the inside of the Hakama).
Available in black and navy. 420 cm long for front Obi and 205 cm long for rear Obi.
To determine your Hakama size, measure between the top hip bone and the
anklebone in standing position. This length is approximately equivalent
to the length between the bottom of rear obi and rear hem. Refer then to
the size chart shown above.
