I'm very pleased with this item... It feels very sturdy and isn't too heavy at all. Comes already lacquered, bringing out the woods naturaly reddish grains.
Wouldn't recommend it for kids that are too young, (because of its solidness) but if you've got a pre-teen who wants to be a ninja or something for Halloween, this is 10 times better than anything you'd find at any retail store. And, when they are done with it, they'll have a very nice display piece.
Also, if you want the little round guard thing that goes between the handle and blade, be sure to pick up the Tsuba and Tsubadome. The Tsuba is the round thing and the Tsubadome is the rubber piece that holds the Tsuba in place. They sell them both here for only a few bucks. The one I got fit very nicely. Just be sure you're ordering the right one to fit the Bokken you're buying.
