Urushi has been loved from long time ago because of its antibacterial property and tasteful fine luster. Varnished black-colored Urushi on frontal and natural Urushi on inside. The chest guard is made of Krozan leather which requires manual time-taking process; first, leather is smoked to make it more durable and air goes through better. And then varnish with liquid iron following lacquer, which turns into gorgeous black color later. After completely dried it under the sun, a craftsman rub it with own hands to make surface uneven and lacquer only on projected surface, and then lacquer two more times after that.
