The Kurama Ryu Bokken features almost no Sori (curvature) and comes fitted with a wooden Tsuba. It's available in Japanese White Oak and Red Oak and comes with a urethane coating. A variety of wood selections and finishes are available upon request.
What is Kurama Ryu?
is said to be of direct descendent of Kyo-Hachi Ryu, or the 8 styles which originated in Kyoto at the end of 12th century. Little is known about its founder,
as the records was lost during WW2.
The style became widely known when the 15th head master,
became the Kenjutsu instructor for the Japanese metropolitan police and one of the Kurama Ryu techniques,"Henka"was adopted as one of the 10 Kenjutsu kata officially practiced by Japanese metropolitan police force known as
. "Henka", commonly known as "Makiotoshi" by modern Kendo practitioners is definitely one of the most sophisticated and effective technique in the Japanese Kenjutsu arsenal. The style is currently active in Tokyo area.
