Summer in Japan can reach temperatures touching on 40C (104 F). To combat this, Japan's top players are making the most of modern, lightweight materials in their choice of equipment. This Summer Kendogi is a garment from Tozando, which is lightweight, easy to care for and comfortable. It features a traditional type weave, including 'hishi-zashi' (diamond pattern stitching) on the lower half, allowing you to maintain a dignified look whilst keeping cool.

As this garment is made using modern materials (polyester), and modern coloring methods it can be washed like any other article of clothing, and even better thanks to its quick-drying fabric, it will be dry in plenty of time before your next Keiko!

Excellent choice for summer keiko September 21, 2017
Reviewer: Alexey Novikov from Yaroslavl, Yaroslavskaya oblast' Russia
It was a test buy. I wanted to get answers for a few questions like:
How does it feel when wearing it?
How comfort is it during keiko?
I don't like artificial fabric much. And for the first time it looks like I was right in my question. But first keiko have cleared my doubts. Very comfort and cool. I just didn't have a time to sweat. ))
But after keiko I've found a few places with light deterioration. It was where kendogi rubbed against Do. I shall look for this places more closely.
After all, I like to use this gi.

Great summer gi! June 20, 2017
Reviewer: Joe from Atlanta, GA
I just recently ordered the Breeze-Knit gi.  It arrived within a week, and I've been very happy with it. If you're used to a cotton gi (as I have been till now), there's no avoiding the sense in which it feels quite different. My first thought was that it felt like wearing a huge microfiber cloth. But after a few days of training, the benefits start to shine—it looks great, for one. It's light, it breathes very well, and it's extremely soft and comfortable. Highly recommended, and well worth the (reasonable) price.

Other reviewers have mentioned that the polyester holds sweat-smell more intensely than cotton. I've been tracking this, and my verdict is: kinda. I tend to wash mine immediately after practice, but on a few lazy days, I've taken a whiff the next day, and it isn't appreciably worse than any cotton piece of kit I've ever used. I think the concern is overemphasized.

Great gi. Comfortable, easy to move in, and my size fits me better than any gi I've ever had.

Great for training in warm weather October 20, 2014
Reviewer: A. Stenoien. from United States
I love to use this garment to practice my suburi, both Ken & Jo.  I currently live in a tropical latitude country and this fabric helps a great deal to keep me cool.  I asked Tozando to have the border tail embroidered, it looks great, my Sensei's wife wrote my name in Kanji it looks quite elegant and discrete.  I washed it in cold water, gentle cycle, no problem at all.  Thank you Toazando for suggesting using EMS to ship to my DPO! I'm a happy camper!  Domo arigato!
