The "MICHI" model is a light weight, easy to use Kote with great durability and impact absorption, at a very competitive price! By using a new type of padding, we have been able to produce a extremely lightweight, yet thicker and more protective type of Futon for this Kote.
Thanks to the carefully prepared materials and the skills of our craftsmen, we have constructed this Kote so that the Kote Himo will not shift and open up the Kote unnecessary with time, which is a very common problem.
This Kote also provides great protection from hits, we have also designed the right-hand Kote so that the Futon is 20% thicker to protect the hit zone, and the left-hand Kote so that it's slightly thinner to make it easier to move with.
This Kote also features our Oji-cut wrist, providing a much more natural angle for the wrist when wearing the Kote.
We have also designed the Kote-atama so that it will be easier to grip your Shinai, thanks to the natural grip shape.
Orizashi cotton also dries Kote very fast and is very easy to maintain, so it's a prefect choice for your everyday training and highly recommended for any Kendoka! Experience the unbelievable performance for this price range! So why not trying this MICHI!
  • 6mm machine-stitch Orizashi cotton extra thick Futon
  • Special construction that prevents the Kote Futon from opening up
  • 20% thicker Futon on right-hand Kote
  • Oji-cut wrist and natural grip construction

1 of 5 Not durable at all October 27, 2019
Reviewer: Anonymous Person from Michigan United States
I have used Kote Michi for less than Six months, one practice a week(started at DT seminar on mid February).  To this date(Mid August)the total usage is equivalent approx to 54 hours and the synthetic palm material already shows wear In both Kote and they also have some threads are loose here and there. Unfortunately for me, I bought a two pair set(Michi and Tora) for $245  just to recently discover that now they are down to $90 each and that you can even get them as Free Gift. That makes me think that they indeed have quality problems.
I imagine that if you use this poor quality Item  for two or three practices a week they wont last you a year.
Still, if you only need them for a season I guess they will do, they are indeed flexible but that comes at the expense of protection, so be sure of buy a wrist protector.
It Is hard for me to understand how a cheap deer palm set i got from the extint Kendoshop 12 years ago, as stinky and hardened as they are, show no sign of quitting.

I'm buying a new bogu part by part and I just received my kote.  Great item, the size is perfect as well as the quality, packaging and delay.
They are thick and offer a really good protection of the hand and the forearm, they look nice  too!
Best price/quality rate on the net.
Everything to play better kendo ;)

4 of 5 As good as described in product page!👍 April 12, 2019

This kote requires only minimum amount of time to break in the wrist section. The build spec & quality definitely suitable for intensive keiko, regardless the kendoka's level.  Beginners would likely notice the supportive feel from Michi's Oji cut construction, as it makes them effortlessly  make proper grip to shinai tsuka. However, seasoned players might not notice this, as their hands would already been trained for years and naturally able to grip shinai properly even without help of Oji cut construction.  The only cons about this kote is the palm neo leather which is not micropunched, thus overtime it feels less comfortable due to sweat  trapped inside. So I highly recommend you to wear kote inner glove to absorb the sweat and make your hands much more comfortable in wearing Michi kote.

5 of 5 Orizashi Kote MICHI April 5, 2019
Reviewer: Evgeny Parfenov from St. Petersburg, St. Petersburg Russia
Kote are very comfortable and high quality for its price .
The only problem is that the real length and width are less than those that should match the specified size.
If the length and width of your palm are close to the upper limit of the specified size, when ordering, you should increase the parameters or ask for larger size. Otherwise you will get gauntlets that will be too small to your palm.
