Nōshū-jū Fusataro real name is Asano Taro, from Seki in Gifu prefecture. He was born in Showa year 51 (1976) and started learning the art of sword making when he was 20 years old from the 25th generation Fujiwara Kanefusa (藤原兼房), and was eventually awarded with the Kanji [房] by his teacher, making his name [Fusa]taro after completing his training. His works are often featured in many of the Modern Sword Exhibitions in Japan, and he also has made sword while being in France, Canada and America. He is one of the up and coming swordsmiths in the Mino tradition of Swordsmithing.
